Could you check in all day long and ask yourself: Is what I’m about to say true for me? Or is it a white lie, or half truth, or what I think they want me to say? Am I being passive-aggressive? Do I even know what I want, or am I operating on autopilot?
Mantras are little reminders we carry in our back pockets. With practice, these helpful short, simple statements like “I’m okay,” “I’m safe,” or “I belong” can begin to pop into our awareness in moments of upset and remind us to pause.
This piece with Authority Magazine is special to me because it felt vulnerable to share where I’ve been: on autopilot, yelling at my 3-year-old, and the turning point that cracked me open.
I used to feel bone tired at the end of almost every day. My body ached from exhaustion, but it wasn’t just physical. When I first heard the concept of people pleasing, it was like someone flipped on the lights, and it all made sense.
